James Lochrie Parliamentarian

JAMES (JIM) LOCHRIE, B.Sc., CPP-T

Founder

Jim is a Certified Professional Parliamentarian and Teacher of Parliamentary Law. He specializes in workshops, presiding skills and meeting facilitation. He has been in practice for 34 years, with clients across Canada and the USA. Clients include municipalities, school boards, real estate boards, labor unions, medical and professional associations, sports associations and many not-for-profit organizations. Jim is Past International President of the American Institute of Parliamentarians (1999 – 2001) and founding member of the Parliamentary Society of Toronto. His list of services includes acting as parliamentarian at Board and Annual Meetings, workshop presenter, presiding and facilitation. Specialist in Robert’s Rules of Order and the Standard Code of Parliamentary Procedure (Sturgis). Co-author of the latest edition of The Standard Code (2012). Author of Meeting Procedures (2003) a simplified parliamentary authority based on modern procedural practices.

Atul Kapur

Atul enjoys helping groups have more efficient and effective meetings. He is one of only two people in Canada with the top-level credentials from both major parliamentarian organizations: a Certified Professional Parliamentarian and a Professional Registered Parliamentarian. Atul can help prepare for and assist at board or annual meetings / conventions, be a neutral presiding officer, train chairs and boards, lead workshops, advise on bylaws, and supervise elections. Expert in Robert’s Rules of Order  Newly Revised, American Institute of Parliamentarians Standard Code (formerly The Standard Code or Sturgis), and the Canadian authorities: Nathan’s, Bourinot’s, Kerr & King, Lochrie, and Code Morin. Certified in French by the Government of Canada to the Exempt/B/B proficiency standard (Reading/Writing/Oral).

Michael Mouritsen, RP

Michael is certified as a Registered Parliamentarian by the National Association of Parliamentarians. In addition, Michael has over 45 years of experience providing procedural advice and support to boards, committees and organizations in the public and not-for-profit sectors. He has been the secretary of a hospital board of trustees, a university board of governors, and a union executive board, and has extensive experience drafting bylaws, providing procedural advice, and supervising elections. Michael is a former president of the Parliamentary Society of Toronto and currently serves on their Executive as the elected Program Director.

Jason Robinson AAM

Jason Robinson, CP

Associate

Jason is a Certified Parliamentarian with the American Institute of Parliamentarians. He is also an active member of the Parliamentary Society of Toronto and serves as its Director of Membership and Public Relations. Jason has more than 20 years of experience in governance and parliamentary practice and has provided these services to the not-for-profit and public sectors since 2015. He is well versed in meeting challenges and procedures, standing and special rules, bylaw development, policy, agendas and minutes, committee functions and meeting scripts.

Jason is based in Mississauga, Ontario, but is flexible to travel to his clients.
